Whatever Happened To Edu Segundo and the rest of the Iconoclast Team as Explained by Edu Segundo

I am writing this right after my little interview with Essa Santos, our first covergirl for the second version of Iconoclast (cover story will be released in a matter of few days). Today is July 7 and so far, a number of things have happened already today. I started my day with my ritual visit to the gym (it’s cardio day today so it wasn’t really that tough), then I went to Bhoyette Piloton’s (one of our favorite Hair and Make-Up artist) parlor to have my first hair cut since December of last year. But he was still asleep as I got there so I went back home instead. The haircut was supposed to be a surprise/shock for my sister who is probably on the airport right now for a flight back to Manila. She’ll be there for God-knows-when so I thought it’d be nice for her to see me on sporting a new hair style. But since I didn’t get my haircut, I teased my hair instead. So there, I am having a new look right now but hopefully only for today (my sister loved it though I kind of look like a young Ricky Martin or worse Paolo Ballesteros). After we had lunch, I bid my sister goodbye and went on to the interview with Essa.

So I guess by this very moment you are asking to yourself “Alright, mofo, what’s your point?” Here’s the point: It’s exactly the third month anniversary since we closed this website for the public eye to see.

We became silent for a very long time – 4 months – because we were trying to offer a bigger option to all of you, our loyal followers. January of this year was when we first came up with the idea that we will publish the magazine. Like for realzz. So me, Jason Tan, Fadi Ismail of XFM, Mai Tan, and Irene Aserios started gathering up ideas and more people who were interested to work together in putting up our very first issue which we planned to publish by June of this year. Together with other cool and creative peeps, the brainstorming produced great ideas and we had plenty of good times talking about lots of ideas, finishing productions to be used and all other shiznet.

But good things never last.

We had troubles fixing our schedules up because, probably just like you, they have days jobs too (I am just a rich bum what can I say). Apart from that, looking for advertisers is such a bitch I don’t want it to be bred. What was started with a bag full of hopes ended up with three bags full of doubt. It may be a sad news for us but we wont stop there.

So instead of sulking on the corner we had to get back to our roots: our e-magazine. And this time we should do it better. Always remember that you owe to the people who are supporting you if you are going to do it the second or third time. Some even do it sexier the second time (no pun intended). So here we are back again on the site. Still the same sh*t, same sh*tty people with a couple of new ones(including your favorite columnist Bitter Parker).

Our first salvo for the second version did not disappoint us so it wont disappoint you. We are hitting a comeback. If you will ask if we will still go for print, well I do not really know for now. Maybe yes. Maybe no. But who knows, this will be better than we thought.

We are ready to kick some ass. Salud!
