Breaking the Hiatus

Hello Faithful Readers,

It’s been quite a while. Did you miss me?

Well, I do miss you as well, and I apologize. The month of October was some kind of a roller coaster of all things unexpected for me. Things that actually needed my attention which left me no choice but to set aside iconoclast for quite a long time. But somehow in the absence of some updates in this website, I have learned a couple of things that would really help me more in running this e-magazine. But do I have to tell you? Hmm…  I might come off as a bit dramatic so maybe later on.

But here is something I just want to share:

Early of last month, through a very good friend Mindanaoan, I received a great inspiring message from RJ Ledesma. If you were born in the 80s you might recall that RJ portrayed as “Joey” for that series of  orange soda ad. Now he is the editor-in-chief of one of the most brilliant publications in our country today – UNO Magazine. UNO, aside from Rogue, is a monthly publication I always look up to. It gives inspiring and artistic photos (works of Juan Caguicla no less), witty and nonchalant articles, suave layouting and all that shit for just 190 pesos a month. It is, however, a shame that I cannot find a regular bookstore or magazine stand anywhere in the city that sells UNO (I saw the Avi Siwa issue on Filbar’s but that’s just about it). My only resort is to hire ask someone who’s going to Manila and buy me an issue (for this month, I forgot to ask my friend – now he’s back in town).

UNO is such a big part of the conception of this website, therefore I really got jilted out when I saw a posted video on my Facebook page of RJ Ledesma sending his warmest regards in less than a minute. Even though the first time I watched the vid Ijust got home and was really drunk from a some kinda after party of a fund-raising fashion show, the words were really clear to me. He even said that he wanted me to “right” the UNO crew and email (I haven’t uhh “rought” any) but I will at some point of this month.

the next phrase may come out as creepy, but the video really made me happy. Even though it’s just a simple message, it helped validated the fact that we are going the right way after all some thumbs down (and some unsolicited advice so unsolicited we didn’t bother). And of course, there are also you guys, our faithful readers. You, the message, our inspiration, the people we worked with – all of you, are the living testaments that ICONOCLAST is here to stay.
