A Little History

Iconoclast started out of nothing – just like anything else. March of this year, Edu Segundo – a bored bum with enough income approached Jason Tan who is photography hobbyist to have a photoshoot where Edu will think of the concept and Jason will be the one to take the pictures. But it was only done two months after – due to both have hectic schedules (yes, bums also do schedules). Even though the shoot was sort of short notice for the model, Rona Oclarit gamely posed for Jason and two other photographers – Gilbert “Oxy” Gulang and John Peligrino – with a very androgynous concept (Go Baby Go). The pictures were iconic enough to make them give birth to the idea that those pictures should not be just posted in a social networking site. For them, it was like using a high end watercolor on a tissue paper should it be done that way. It also gave them the idea of doing it more often. Then the idea of an e-magazine was born.

What This Site is For

The site is open to all crazy ideas. Mediocrity and ‘bandwagon’ standards, specially, are not allowed (although it is already accused of being mediocre). This is also open for people who are talented and open enough to experiment with their craft of choice. This is not a site that is intended to gain praise and recognition; this is a site that is opened for the love and passion for art, ingenuity, and diversity.

“I love to stomp on to that idea that we have to follow certain rules and ideals just to form an art. Art is a form of expression, and you cannot call it an expression if you do not do it your way. That is why I chose the word ICONOCLAST – it’s all about breaking the standards, breaking the norms, breaking certain rules just to get your message across.”
